Spring Cleaning in February

Today I decided to get down to business and clean out some things for the arrival of the baby. I did what I NEVER thought I would do…..I threw out ALL of my beloved Domino magazines. Nevermind that they broke a dresser drawer with their sagging weight, or that you can probably find every single image that was ever in them on Pinterest. It was still sad!

So here is an ode to Domino with 5 things that make me happy (remember ’10 things that make me happy’ at the end of each issue??) This is to remind me to move on to things that make me happy right now, and to forget about the piles of magazines (and everything else I cleaned out) that is in the past!

1. Hermès Balcon du Guadalquivir….the most beautiful pattern.

2. Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream….mmm wish I had one right now.

3. The Paris Wife. Have you read it? I loved it. This weekend I am going to the library to take out A Moveable Feast and anything else about Paris in the 20’s.

4. My big chambray men’s shirt that doubles as a smock. Nothing is more comfortable right now.

5. The softest, perfect shade of orange, leather shopper from the Gap of all places!

I would love to do a series where I illustrate other people’s happy things….something to think about!

I still can’t bear to throw away my Dominos and now I’m hoarding Living, Etc., which has finally filled the Domino-shaped hole inside me. And speaking of Happy Things, that’s what I blogged about tonight… though my list has way more than 5 things. http://thehomebeete.com/2013/02/18/things-i-love/

And after you finish A Moveable Feast, be sure to watch Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” about the same time period — it will complete the trifecta!!

Sometimes these things just have to be done. I could do with following suit, and I’m not even expecting ; ) (Congratulations by the way)
You’re illustrations are such a lovely way of moving. And yes, it’s easy to not think about all the joyous things that are here and now.
    have a fantastic day x x

Lovely painting and very nice idea about illustrating other peoples happy things. Seriously hope through that you didn’t threw the Domino magazines in the trash. They are bestselling at amazon and ebay and would make a lot of people v e r y happy ;)

I too threw away a lot of magazines when I cleaned out and got married. I put my Domino’s in storage though! I just couldn’t throw them away–soon there will be no more magazines. I’m sure it made you feel ‘lighter’ though. Great post!

Beautiful illustrations! I also threw out a ton of magazines during a nesting spree. It made me feel so lightweight. Yay to celebrating what you love right now and letting go of the past.

Such a great illustrations of those fun items! I have always loved that Hermes pattern-so crisp, simple and beautiful. I have been seeing those leather bags from Gap everywhere, so great to know that they are good quality.
