Sometimes I get to branch out and work on something totally different and fun. One of my favorite ladies asked if I could whip up some dots for her, and I thought I would take you through the steps. I’m holding off on showing you the final piece, as it might be coming to a publication near you sometime in the future.
I bought a 40″x60″ piece of Arches watercolor paper from DaVinci, which I had to carry two blocks back to my apartment, and all I can say is thank God it wasn’t windy, otherwise it would have been like a sail carrying me away to the Hudson River. I cut it down to 40″x42″ and I busted out the Sumi ink. I just love the marks Sumi ink can make, so I played around with that for a while, then I started practicing the dots. On a large piece like this, I always practice first. Then I got to work, and it was actually more difficult than it looks…making sure the dots are balanced…making sure it doesn’t make you dizzy, etc. I’m happy with how it came out and it’s off to the framer now. Will keep you posted!

Is there wallpaper in our future?!
Oh I would LOVE!
I spy a beautiful striped chair! Can’t wait to see the dots. xo
