It’s good to be back.

I just spent a month in our house by a lake for the holidays. Glorious! I barely checked my email (pretty daunting but slowing answering them now!) and I took a little break from painting.
When I’m there, I like to live in the moment and I don’t think much about life in NYC. BUT, when I got back on Monday and just started walking around, it was pure EXHILARATION! I forgot how much I missed the guy who walks up and down my street with a ukulele and a chihuahua, or how I can walk one block and pick up a dozen pink roses with my New York Times. I also forgot how quickly things change. Suddenly there is a Pret just steps away, but the tiny Japanese wings place on my block closed. This is New York.
I am not going to lie and tell you I walked past City Bakery yesterday and did NOT purchase a hot chocolate. Of course I did! It occupied about 57% of my brain while I was away for the month. Could be because it is winter and it is just SO.GOOD when it’s cold outside. Or it could be because I am pregnant with a BOY and when he wants something, he has to have it. So, while I enjoy coming back to NYC for the art, fashion, etc., etc., I have to say that the first thing on my mind was a Murray’s bagel with lox (doctor approved!) and what I was going to order for dinner. Enough home cooked food! I need thai, ramen, sushi, and everything else in this great city! It’s good to be back.

congratulations caitlin! such happy news :)
i was just dreaming about murray’s bagels last night! it was
one of my break out nyc moments, putting on my boots and long coat over my pj’s (who would know?)
and crossing the street for a fresh bagel and coffee. the simplest things are the best memories.
    happy monday to you,
    xo, m

  10. Congratulations on having a boy! I have two boys and two girls, and boys (in my wee opinion) were easier. As adults they still are! Hard to pass bye a good hot chocolate so bravo to you. May tons of thai, ramen, and sushi be in your near future.

    Cheers!
