I had a great weekend with some great food: Barmarche taquitos with new friends, take-out sushi with old friends, little apples from the Union Square farmer’s market, butternut squash soup from Westville, pumpkin beer, and a birthday egg sandwich. **if you ever decide to make your husband an egg sandwich for breakfast on his birthday, remove the wax candle unless you don’t mind having a hot waxy mess instead of a delicious breakfast treat (I learned the hard way !)

Fall Food Weekend
Monday, October 10th, 2011Christie’s
Monday, October 3rd, 2011I had the wonderful opportunity to paint portraits at the First Open event at Christie’s last week, which was really something. Here I am looking oh so serious. I was painting in the gallery with all of these incredible drawings and paintings. My favorites were a large piece by Will Cotton, and another large piece (a dog) by Alex Katz. I like how the dog looked like his portraits, immediately recognizable as his work. I had a big adrenaline rush and did what felt like a thousand portraits, in a good way. Great art and a good crowd-a fun night all around.
